Visit to the Shinydoll studio!

Hello everyone :)

Last Saturday I went to Shinydoll's studio in Tokyo to meet with Doi Shin, sculptor and boss of Shinydoll, and to see how Shinydolls are made!

The studio was very tiny, but very organised. Mr Doi says that in his working space he feels like Kamaji from Spirited Away, with long arms reaching into little drawers without even needing to look! I got to see many master sculpts, as well as some which sadly never made it into resin. there's one doll which I begged Shinydoll to cast, but I need to remember that the company needs to be able to make a profit, they can't make every doll I want ^^;;;

I got to see some molds too.... Can you see some big ears? This is little Meefa ^^

I watched some small pieces being cast. It was amazing to see, but looked like so much work! BJDs really are very labour intensive to make!

Speaking of Meefa, white skin Fragille have been released recently! Here are a few bodies waiting to be drilled and assembled.

And unfortunately, not every piece makes it. Because every piece must be perfect, many get rejected. These had tiny flaws so will not be drilled and used...

And I got to see a prototype here too... The molds haven't been made yet so I won't share what it is, but I'm very excited :)

Shinydoll will hopefully be releasing more face sculpts soon. I'm requesting Kisui jr from Mr Doi.... I wonder if he will make her ^^

How about you? Is there any particular style you want to see? Although Shinydoll can't make everything you suggest, they will always listen :)

Shinydoll have a released a very unique new sculpt, Meefa :)

I think her expression quite different from other Shinydoll girls, but her eyes are still very 'Shinydoll'. Her ears are very unique, very fleshy! I think the hanging lower lobes are really cute :)

Meefa is a basic edition and so her price and availability is the same as other Fragille dolls. She currently does not come in white skin.

Meefa head is available to buy separately for customers who already own the Fragille body.

She will come with purple glass eyes and a blond fur wig (Kondoll) with glued-in bow (not removeable!)

Her outfit is fully handmade besides the shoes. Includes leggings, socks, bloomers, top and bag.

Please note, the face up and outfit were done by me, and I am not a professional. Made with love, but not store quality. Therefore the face up and outfit are free!

New Thaasa III-s body

The 57cm Thaasa doll's body was upgraded ^^

It has the smooth body line and superior posing on the Thaasa III body, but the slim thighs which were loved by fans of the earlier Shinydoll bodies ^^

Please check the posing photos on the Shinydoll site!

This body is completely replacing the larger thigh Thaasa III body, but it's still available on special order until the larger thigh pieces run out ^^

Regarding the recent earthquake in Japan

Hello customers,

In light of the disaster in Japan, I understand there could be some concern about Shinydoll. Be assured, all the staff at Shinydoll are fine and well. Since Shinydoll is based in the Greater Tokyo area, business continues mostly as usual, however there could be delays in shipping, as there will be for all parcels leaving Japan.

I don't want to say too much, but I'm wishing good news for anyone waiting for news, and wishing fast recovery to the survivors.

Hybrid gallery: Unoa head on Fragille body

I decided to try Unoa faceplate on Fragille body. As expected, the fit is excellent! The faceplate seems a tiny bit more yellow, I wonder if this is due to age or not.

I used a B-el faceplate and a headback sculpted and cast by Amaeta.

There is some mild nudity in the following photos.

Chizune is a new Thaasa head! However, the head is very petite, so I like it on the Fragille body. It is quite heavy for the Fragille body (she's in trouble wearing a heavy wig!), but otherwise good :)

Nemuidoll at the Pygmalion Society Masked Ball

The Pygmalion Society hosted an event in London today- a Masked Ball!

There were many beautiful dolls there, but I'll just show a few of Kisui who came with me.

Shinydoll and Nemuidoll contributed a 50% off voucher to the raffle. I haven't spoken to the winner yet :)

There was a vote for the best doll costume, and the winners were really stunning. when those with good cameras start sharing photos on Den of Angels I'll add a link :)

Meeting with Doi Shin in Tokyo :)

My Suzune on Pricco body came with me to meet up with Doi Shin, founder and sculptor of Shinydoll :)

We met up in the town of Kawagoe, on the outskirts of Tokyo. It's a very beautiful town with many old buildings, which have been preserved by a mixture of luck and location.

We visited both shrines in the town, and one had these fantastic statues.There are 500 and all unique.

These photos were by my fiance, Mark. Nemuidoll is a two person team, he's the IT side :)

Me, Shin-san and Mark. I had to censor my face because my expression was very weird!

Shinydoll took Nemuidoll for a business dinner. It was a very good seafood restaurant in Tokyo's suburbs Very wonderful food and atmosphere.

Suzu met her sister- Shin-san's personal Suzune.

Suzu and beer. Sapporo beer is excellent :P

We had a long discussion about Shinydoll's origins and future. And about our favourite owner dolls. We all agreed that Shinydoll owners have wonderful diverse styles. We agreed our customers are always so nice and friendly to email. It makes us happy :)

We also talked about Ball jointed dolls in general. It seems people have a lot of choice in a lot of cheap dolls these days. I'm glad many owners still care about good quality.

I learnt that Shin-san works by inspiration. So while he's always happy to listen to suggestions, his best work is when he's inspired by something :)

I hope to meet Shin-san again next year :)

She has the new Thaasa III body and a unique face up by Shinydoll sculptor and artist, Doi Shin. She also comes with brown glass eyes and a soft Jpopdolls wig!

The new shorter box has been designed especially for us so that she can be sent worldwide with no problems. The UK postal service has a restriction on the length of parcels sent overseas so the longer boxes couldn't be sent before.

NOTE: The back of one of her delicate hollow glass eyes was unfortunately broken in transit. As you can see it's fine from the front, but when you wish to change the eyes this eye will no longer be useable. So I am adding a gift of purple glass eyes for when you wish to change them :)

Her price is £495 or 585Euro.

Shipping cost is £20 for Parcelforce 48 within the UK or 30Euro for Airsure within Europe. Please ask for international quotes.

Preorders will be sent to Shinydoll in Japan between 1-30 days of your payment clearing, depending on how many orders we get. More orders mean more frequent preorders. Once your doll arrives with me I will send it on to you usually within one working day. Please note that there may be a delay in me recieving dolls from Japan due to customs.

Neck-length from the hollow of the throat: 4.0cm
Neck: 8.0cm
Chest: 22.6cm
Hip: 24.2cm
Waist: 16.0cm
Foot length: 6.4cm (Thaasa-I was 6.8cm)
wig size: newer sculpts tend to be 8-9
Eye size: Please check each sculpt.

Clothing for slim dolls such as Delf, Obitsu, Dollfie Dream and Musedoll fits the best.
Smaller SD shoes and larger mini shoes tend to fit well. Obitsu are a good fit.

Wig size:6-7cm

Shoe and clothing size is a touch smaller than Yo-SD. She is slimmer and taller than Yo-SD.

Important information for buyers outside the UK: Due to size restrictions in the UK postal service, I am unable to ship Thaasa 56cm dolls outside of the UK unless I send them in a smaller box in a 'curled up' position. If you are happy to recieve your doll sent in this way then it is £20 for worldwide shipping by Airsure. Pricco 30cm dolls are £10 worldwide by Airsure.

I will give you an order number and total usually within 12 hours.

Payment by Paypal is preferred, but UK buyers may pay by cheque. However I do need to wait for this to clear before making the preorder or sending you an in-stock doll. I do not charge Paypal fees.

Shipping is only charged from me to you, I pay the shipping from Japan. For UK buyers this will be £20 for a Thaasa 56cm doll with Parcelforce 48. Please note that '48' means that Parcelforce deliver within 48 hours of recieving the parcel, and sometimes the Post Office is slow to pass it on to them, so it can take longer. Pricco 30cm dolls are £5 for shipping and will be sent First Class.

Central London pick-up is also available, but I would ask for £10 towards my travel with this option.

All dolls will be sent fully insured and have full value declared on them.
